Nigel Pendse Comments on Smaller Vendor Innovation
Nigel Pendse of the OLAP Report has never been known to sugar coat his opinions. He’s just come out with BI Survey 7 and it sounds like it’s chalk full of interesting market analysis and real-world customer input. This article, Exploding the Myths: the Business Intelligence Market Laid Bare, includes a brief summary of the survey and this Nigel nugget:
“We have found that some of the big-name vendors and the most expensive products are not delivering the same business benefits or level of support achieved by some of their lesser-known counterparts. There are smaller vendors out there producing cheaper and all-round better solutions than some industry giants.”

“So, if one of your performance management software vendors is acquired, be cautious. But if the acquirer is itself acquired, be prepared to abandon ship.”
