10 Questions for Marc Benioff
In case you missed it, here’s a great Q & A with salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff on InsideCRM. Marc always gives a great interview (my favorite is still “I Know Marketing” from Forbes), and this one doesn’t disappoint. A few nuggets:
- “Our subscription model means that we have to stay aligned with customer goals.”
- “Nothing would make us happier than to see 20 partners come in and knock our apps off that top 20 list.”
- “My dream is that the AppExchange becomes home to thousands of Salesforce.coms.”
- “Tom Siebel once said about us, “There’s no way that company exists in a year.” A couple of years later, his company didn’t exist anymore. The point is that you can’t focus on what your competitors are doing, you have to focus on making your customers successful.”
And of course he didn’t miss the opportunity to fire off this zinger at the good people in Redmond: “Microsoft will do for SaaS what the Zune has done for MP3 players.” Classic!
