Happy Anniversary to the Performance Guys!
Our friends the Performance Guys celebrated 4 years of business intelligence and corporate / enterprise / business performance management wisdom, wit, sarcasm, and occasional cynicism today by posting their first ever published article. It’s been quite a journey for these former Business Objects product marketers, two of whom now work in sunny Seattle trying to make things happen at Microsoft. These guys are not only really, really, really, really good looking (Nic asked me to mention that), they also maintain an entertaining blog.
It’s funny to look back at their first post entitled The Five Myths of Performance Management. They are:
- Performance management is too new and won’t stick in the marketplace.
- Performance management is a technology problem.
- A Balanced Scorecard is the answer.
- You know what a KPI is.
- A new planning system solves the problem (note that this was written before Business Objects went on to make multiple planning acquisitions).
Speaking of Business Objects, today is the day that the BOBJ ticker symbol officially goes away. This Pink Floyd song goes out to my former colleagues who are now part of SAP.
