In the last few days I’ve seen more and more articles and blog posts about the market shift to software-as-a-service BI. Here are a few that are worth reading:

Avoiding Year-End Surprises
A few years ago Fortune Magazine ran a rather ironic headline that is still somewhat hard to believe today: This Time Tom Siebel Guessed Wrong. In the article Tom Siebel even stated: “We don’t really have a thorough analysis of the pipeline here with us today.”
This article illustrated that when the market is turbulent (okay, it was […]
Take the SaaS in the Midmarket Test
The good folks at Saugatuck Technology have published a short quiz called Saas in the Midmarket: What’s your Answer?
I’m a bit embarrassed to tell you my score, but I will say that I found #4-6 quite interesting…

On Demand: Eliminating Business Analytics Excuses
Historically adopting any kind of business analytics application has been like joining a gym. You know it’s a good idea, but you don’t have enough time, money, or pain to make the investment. And even when BI does make the New Year’s resolution list it’s usually just a matter of time before the complexity of the set-up, cost of […]
We Couldn’t Get the Answers
This week the very funny Bubble 2.0 video was removed from YouTube for copyright reasons. In honor of the video, which was based on Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Start the Fire, here’s my tribute to the business intelligence market. Note, I’m no poet and it’s Friday! Thanks to The OLAP Report for lots of great market materials. Anybody want to shoot […]

Last night LucidEra’s business development director Brian Anderson attended an interactive panel discussion put on by the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionsionals (ASAP) called, “How SaaS is Changing the Shape of Alliances.” The event included executives from the leading mid-tier and top-tier SaaS companies, who provided compelling views on the future of SaaS and debated the question: Is there […]
