On-Demand BI at TDWI?
I just read this rather depressing review of last week’s The Data Warehouse Institute (TDWI) conference in San Diego. It seems that on-demand business intelligence (BI) hasn’t quite made it on to the TDWI agenda, but Wayne Eckerson assures me that it’s coming. I’d love to hear from folks who were there. Was SaaS covered whatsoever? Would […]
Oracle Doesn’t Get SaaS
Don’t miss this great post by Phil Wainwright on Oracle’s misconveived SaaS strategy. He takes issue with these 4 assertions from Oracle president Charles Phillips:
Customers want to replicate data
Multitenancy doesn’t matter
Customers want to own software
SaaS is just a hosting option
I suspect we’ll hear similar messages promoting a hybrid approach to software-as-a-service coming from SAP on September […]
SaaS Companies Need On-Demand Analytics
Last week I wrote about a new whitepaper called, “7 Habits of Highly Successful On-Demand Companies” available on the Apex Developer Network. Right away you’ll notice from the interviews with SaaS vendors such as Apptus, BigMachines, Centive, ExactTarget, VerticalResponse, and others how important it is to have access to the right metrics to drive customer and sales success. […]
Mining a Gold Rush
“Companies salivate as business intelligence demand inflates.”
LucidEra was recently featured in a IndUS Business Journal article called, “Mining a Gold Rush“. The article outlines how new approaches to analytics are designed to make business easier and more efficient. It makes the great point that “effective business intelligence” gives companies “the ability to increase revenue, control costs and improve […]
Business Intelligence for Normal People
Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to the TDWI event in San Diego last week. Had I been there I definitely would have attended the presentation called BI for Normal People by Mark Madsen. Mark has posted his slides on slideshare, a pretty cool website for finding, sharing, and commenting on presentations. The presentation does a nice job of introducing […]
7 Habits of Highly Successful On-Demand Companies
LucidEra is nicely represented in a fantastic new whitepaper produced by the salesforce.com developer marketing team. Designed to help companies adopt and embrace the on-demand model, the paper is now available as part of the free On-Demand Startup Kit.
To introduce LucidEra the paper uses the following:
“LucidEra is to Reporting and Analysis what Salesforce.com is to […]
Are You Ready for September?
There’s been a lot of software-as-a-service (SaaS) noise over the summer, but it’s nothing compared to what’s coming next month. The battle for SaaS 2.0 (or perhaps platform-as-a-service) is about to heat up as SAP enters the ring, Oracle doubles down, and of course Microsoft continues to try to get their on-demand CRM (Titan) out the door. It’s also […]
Primary CFO Challenges
In honor of Steve Cakebread’s promotion to the President’s Committee at salesforce.com and their appointment of a new CFO, I thought I’d share with you the results of a recent informal CFO survey we performed. We got together with a group of CFOs of high-growth, mid-market companies to talk about their primary challenges as well […]
Congratulations to the B-Eye-Network
Looks like the B-Eye-Network’s global domination strategy is all coming together. Yesterday they launched their German language site and whole series of global resources for business intelligence professionals. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ron Powell and Shawn Rogers a few times over the years and it’s great to see them continue to deliver on their […]
Powering Sales 2.0 with On-Demand Analytics
Last week we presented at the first Telebusiness Alliance Vendor Day and Happy Hour. It was a great opportunity to discuss the technology needs of telebusiness professionals and to hear from a number of salesforce.com partners who are helping to drive the shift to what’s being referred to as Sales 2.0. Thanks to InsideView for hosting the event, […]
